1. a figure where a dancer leans (out-of-axis) away from the partner;
2. positions the dancer leans (out-of-axis) away from the partner.
As the dancer is off-balanced, she is prevented from falling by hanging onto the partner; hence the name. This is related to, but opposite of, volcada, where dancers lean into from the partner.
